Meet The Author

Kamp Marketing Presents author Yvonne Van Halderen. Yvonne will be at the Strawberry Hill Chapters store location on Saturday April 14th from 2pm to 4pm. This store is located at the corner of Scott Rd. and 72nd ave. Yvonne will reading her Book Sherman The Sugar Bug autographing copies for the young readers. This is a great story for kids between the ages of 3 and 7 years old.

Yvonne van Halderen a Certified Dental Assistant in Vancouver, BC recently wrote and published her first children’s storybook entitled “Sherman the Sugar Bug”. Her many years of experience working with children led to the development of this cute little character. In the story a young boy named Zachary inadvertently eats Sherman, a sneaky little fella, who in turn mistakenly damages a tooth in his quest for his sugary snack. Zachary now has to visit the dentist who’ll remove Sherman. The story walks the children through the process of chasing Sherman out and repairing the damaged tooth with a composite restoration. The story then follows Sherman back to the candy store where the process begins all over again. This fun imaginative story helps educate and distract the pediatric patient while the dental team restores the unhealthy teeth.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Ticked off In Cyber Space

I met an accountant at a chamber of commerce breakfast meeting. At that particular meeting the head of the chamber indicated that it was good practice to ask permission to forward any emails regarding your business to anyone you met that day. In other words do not just send them an email simply because they gave you a business card. I personally do not care if people send me emails. It is easy to hit the delete button and never read the email. I sometimes enjoy reading the junk I get in cyber space. About a month after meeting this person I receive an electronic newsletter from this person. Okay by me. I read her newsletter that directed me to her website. I was okay with this. I have continued to read her newletters when they come to my inbox, if I have the time. About four months after receiving her first email I to started using one of these electronic newsletters for my business. I incuded this person on my list of contacts. I felt this was only fair since she had included me with out my permission. I created my email added my contacts and hit the send button. The system that I use has the option for people to opt out if they do not want to receive my email. I was very surprised to see that the first day after receiving my email this individual had opted out of receiving my newsletter in the future. I have since received two more of her emails. I am curious what other people think about this one way street of communication. I know that I can opt out of her service at any time and am planning to do so. I felt it was very unfair of her to include me in her contacts yet as soon as I send her one she opts out. I do not care if my information is relevant to her business or not. Pretend to read my emails once or twice before you decide to opt out.
Am I correct in being ticked off?
Or am I out to lunch?
Let me know

The Active Dad

Kamp Marketing is Launching the Active Dad publication. This will start out as an ezine and a newsletter. It will grow into a full printed magazine by June of 2008.
What is TAD all about? As a dad of two active young boys. I have been searching through the various publications to find information about what interests Dads in their life with their kids. I noticed that all the publication currently on the market are targeted at women and are not talking to the dads of our generation. I do not want to read another article about breast feeding my child. I need to understand this process and the benefits it has for my children. The problem is there is only so much that I can do about this process. What I do want to know is where the best and safest place to take my child fishing, camping or skiing. What it the best equipment for him to use when getting started, and where to get it. I want information on what it takes to be a coach to young kids. Many dads take on this responsibility with no knowledge, training or assistance.
I want to know at what age is a good time to start certain sports like skiing, hockey and how can I help him enjoy these aspects there lives. I also want dads to be portrayed in a positive light. I am tired of seeing Dads in Magazines and advertisements who look incompetent to handle the task of changing a diaper. I know many Dads and who are very competent at dealing with all the needs of their children. Stop making me look like I am useless and this role of parenting is still the major role of the female.
I hope you will enjoy our newsletter. Our next issue will be April 2007. You will be able to keep up to date with various happenings of the Active dad at www.theactivedad.blogspot.com
Thank You
